Concert Information
There are two concerts, each with an afternoon and an evening performance.
Concert #1: Kinder to Grade 3 with the Choir
Afternoon: 12:45 – 1:45 pm, Doors open at 12:30pm
Evening: 5:15 – 6:15 pm, Doors open at 5pm
Concert #2: Grades 4-6 with the Choir and Band.
Afternoon: 1:45 – 2:45 pm, Doors open at 1:30pm
Evening: 6:15 – 7:15 pm, Doors open at 6pm
We request that parents remain for the entirety of the concert. Please only RSVP for your child’s concerts. If your child is in Choir, they will be performing the same songs in Concert #1 and in Concert #2 so you do not need to attend both concert times.
Though slightly less polished, the afternoon performances are great options for those with accessibility concerns or who prefer a less crowded vibe.
Please complete the following RSVP by November 20th so that we can plan for our Holiday concerts on Thursday, December 3rd. RSVP HERE
Student Participation
Ideally, students will be present for both of their shows whether or not parents plan to be in the audience. When they are not actively performing, students will be in their classrooms hanging out with their friends. Don’t plan to attend a show? No problem, please RSVP anyway so we know whether to expect your child or not. Students can be dropped off to their classrooms when doors open and picked up directly from classrooms when the show has finished.
Parent Volunteers
We always appreciate the supportive parent community who come together to help make these events shine. This year we are asking for donations, support with decoration leading up to the event, and hands-on help the day-of for both audience crowd control and student supervision. Please click the link below to review available shifts. Email volunteer@newhorizons.ca and ehanna@newhorizons.ca with questions.
FAQ
How many tickets does each family get?
Because we have limited space, we are limiting seating to parents/caregivers only. If there are additional seats available, we will send out a second RSVP for those seats.
Will my child(ren) have time to eat lunch on Thursday given the start time?
Yes. Teachers will adjust their lunch schedule to accommodate.
I don’t want to attend, does my child still need to come?
Yes, please. Students have been working hard for months preparing for the Winter Concert and full participation helps make the experience better. Please drop off and pick up your child(ren) in their classrooms.
I have many kids at NHS, will they be able to see their siblings?
Yes, we facilitate siblings viewing performances during the rehearsals on Wednesday.
Is there a dress code?
This year’s theme is Holiday Hullabaloo! The dress code is bright, vivid colours for all!
My child is in grade 7, 8, or 9, will they be performing?
Unless your child is in Band or Choir, they will not be performing.
I want to volunteer but I also want to see my kid perform, how does that work?
Absolutely, let’s work this out! You run crowd control and we save you a seat to slide in right before show time. Or maybe you’re attending the afternoon performance so you can help out for the evening. Or attending concert #1 you can volunteer during concert #2. Check out the details of each job on the signup.com form for specifics.
