New Horizons Happenings (October 9-12)

Congratulations Miss Graham!

Congratulations to Miss Kandace Graham for winning Imperial Oil’s Inspiring Teacher Event held in honor of World Teacher Day last week.  Individuals were asked to nominate a teacher who they felt was inspiring, and out of more than 250 teachers  nominated from the Edmonton/Sherwood Park zone, Miss Graham received the most nominations.

As many of you are aware, Miss Graham is our new music teacher and has brought music back into the school. She is able to reach most of the students in the school through her classroom instruction and by offering various music and drama clubs during lunch recesses. Imperial Oil will be giving Miss Graham a gift card, and the school will be receiving $5,000.00!

Thank you to Imperial Oil for their generosity and taking the time to recognize World Teacher Day. As well, thank you to all of you who gave their support to Miss Graham’s nomination.

Getting Ready For Halloween

Mr. Loehr and his Junior High Leadership class are organizing a Halloween Carnival for the big day on October 31. The students have planned, designed, and now building a variety of challenge games to give the younger students for some extra bit of fun on Halloween Day.

Grade 5/6 Volloeyball

The Grade 5/6 Volleyball Nighthawks have begun practices on Tuesdays after school. We are fortunate to once again be invited to be a part of the Elk Island Catholic Sports Council which allows our school to participate in their sports league.

Thank you to Mrs. Shelly Your for coaching, and to the assistant coaches Mr. Scott French and Mrs. Julie Clark. A thank you is also extended to teacher-sponsor Ms. Allison Joly.

Go Nighthawks!
