If you drove past New Horizons School over the weekend, you probably noticed a large crane in the staff parking lot. The crane was there to put in place very large iron beams into the Leaning Commons to support the three new clerestories. The beams weighed as much as 6,000 lbs. each.
The three clerestories will allow natural light to enter the Learning Commons and, indirectly, to the adjacent classrooms. With the addition of a living wall and other renovations, particularly to the ceiling, we are very excited to see what the new space will look like.
We anticipate moving back into the Learning Commons later this spring.
