On Friday, January 13, the Grade 5/6 Nighthawks mixed basketball team had a min-tournament at Holy Redeemer School in Ardrosson. The evening of basketball gave our grade 5/6 team an opportunity to play against other schools to help develop their basketball skills.
The games were 30 minutes long and no score was kept. Because player substitutions occurred every 3-4 minutes, all players had plenty of time on the court.
It was wonderful to watch our young athletes play with such heart, sportsmanship and pride. It was also exciting to finally watch these young players in real-game action. Based on our performance, our junior high teams can expect some wonderful talent coming up the ranks!
Most importantly, the players had a fun time playing a fun sport.
Thank you to Holy Redeemer School for hosting the min-tournament, and to the Elk Island Catholic Schools Sports Council for including us in these rewarding events.
