The Board of Directors of the New Horizons Charter School Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Tracy Leigh to the position of Secretary-Treasurer, effective January 1, 2019. Ms. Leigh holds a Bachelor of Applied Business Administration degree from NAIT and also holds professional designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant.
With more than 25 years of experience in accounting, she has worked in various roles including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and full cycle accounting, as well as in more senior roles as accountant/controller. In addition to operating her own private accounting firm, she has been employed in various types of organizations, including construction, oil and gas, manufacturing, and as Assistant Secretary Treasurer with an Alberta school division. We are most pleased to extend a warm New Horizons’ welcome to Ms. Leigh and look forward to working with her in the new year.
Sincere thanks are extended to Mr. Fred de Kleine for his excellent, faithful service as our school’s Secretary-Treasurer for the past seventeen years. During his years of service, the school has grown from an enrolment 120 students and a staff of about ten to an enrolment of 353 and a staff of more than thirty. In addition, we have acquired a modern, complex campus which involves agreements with more than twenty contracted service providers. Throughout this period of immense growth, Mr. de Kleine has ensured that the finances of our school have remained healthy and strong. We wish him all the best as he enters a well-deserved retirement.
