The Week Ahead at NHS (September 9-13)

Welcome to the first full week on the 2019-2020 school year!

This week’s highlight is our Meet the Teacher Night on Wednesday, followed by a School Council MeetingJr. High Volleyball begins this week for students interested in playing for the Nighthawks.

As well, we will be having our Terry Fox Run on Friday. Our hope is that by Friday, each staff member and student will donate A Toonie for Terry to meet our goal of raising over $400.00. Students can begin bringing in their toonies to the office beginning Monday.

  • Fundraising Association of New Horizons School (FANHS)
    • FANHS will have a table set up at the school during meet the teacher night so that parents can learn more about this active and important parent group whose main function is to raise funds for School Council sponsored projects such as playground expansion, classroom support, and community building.
    • FANHS is an entity governed by the Societies Act, and the work it does relies on volunteers. Learn the many things FANHS does and ways in which you can help out on a regular basis or intermittently when your schedule allows.
  • School Council Meeting (7:00 p.m.)
    • Parents are invited to the first School Council meeting of the year. All parents are considered School Council members, so everyone is invited to meet in the Learning Commons after Meet the Teacher Night.
    • School Council is composed of parents, teachers, principals, and other interested staff.  School Council supports and enhances student learning. Members can provide advice to and consult with the principal, and advise the school board on education matters.
